Friday, September 17th, 5:15 P.M.
Today brought a lot of clouds, breezy wind at times, but dry and warm conditions. Highs were in the mid to upper 70s around the metro area this afternoon.
Widespread rain is heading into the area tonight. Before 10:00 PM, we could see a few light showers here and there, but moderate to heavy rain arrives around midnight. Expect steady rain all night long. I don’t expect anything beyond very localized flooding (storm drains, etc.). The rain will break up into on and off showers by tomorrow morning. Saturday and Sunday will bring a mix of clouds, sun, and rain showers. We could even see a scattered downpour or thunderstorm. It looks like Saturday will likely be the wettest day of the weekend. Sunday looks drier, especially as we get into the late afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals in the Portland metro area and the central valley could be in the 1-1.5" range, with more expected on the coast and in the Cascades. Temps this weekend will be much cooler, only making it into the mid 60s.
Starting Monday, the Portland area will get back to drier and warmer weather. High temps will soar back into the 80s on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies the rest of the week.
