(Meredith) -- The wife of a Vietnam veteran is searching for answers after realizing her husband's remains may have gotten lost in the mail.

"It's bizarre," Christine Tyler told KTVQ. "When I retired ten years ago, we decided every year to take a trip, an overseas trip, to see the world."

However, her husband, Donald, became ill and died in Spain back in March of this year. She stayed by his side until he passed away in the ICU from complications from COVID-19.

She decided to have his remains cremated with military tradition. Donald had served in Vietnam, was a member of the Air Force and a Federal Police Chief in Wisconsin.

But she says when his remains were shipped from Spain to the U.S., they got lost in the mail. Now, instead of mourning the loss of her husband, she's searching for him.

"I mean, we just need him home. He's a veteran. He needs to be buried with some respect and dignity."
