Hot streak ends for Portland Fire with 86-66 loss to Atlanta Dream
PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - After winning three games in a row, the Portland Fire’s win streak came to an end on Friday night with an 86-66 loss to the Atlanta Dream.
With Bridget Carleton ruled out due to a back injury, former Oregon Duck Holly Winterburn made her first start for the Portland Fire.
Winterburn finished with 6 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds while leading the team in minutes played with 28.
Sarah Ashlee Barker came off the bench to lead the Fire in scoring with 14, including 8 points in the third quarter to cut the lead to six.
The Dream were able to widen the gap again in the final ten minutes though, ending in a 20-point victory over the Fire.
Coach Alex Sarama said after the game that he expects Carleton and Teja Oblak to be available for the Fire’s next game against the Indiana Fever.
The Fire will face the Fever at the Moda Center on Saturday at 5 p.m.
