HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (KPTV) — Three people found shot to death inside a Happy Valley home Tuesday have been identified as 78-year-old Patricia Lynn Campbell, 47-year-old Katie Lynn Kinder and 15-year-old Evan Scott Kinder, police said Thursday.

Happy Valley officers found the three Tuesday afternoon during a welfare check at a home on the 13000 block of Southeast Highpointe Street.

Police said Thursday the welfare check was requested after Kinder did not show up to work. Neighbors told officers they had not seen anyone at the house for a few days.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday autopsies showed all three died from gunshot wounds.

Detectives named 45-year-old Edward Villa as the person believed responsible. Police said Villa was Kinder’s boyfriend and lived at the home with Kinder, her son and her mother.

Villa was found dead Wednesday in a motel room at the South Jetty Inn in Hammond, near Warrenton, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Warrenton police. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service found him after officers watched his car at the motel.

Villa worked for the North Clackamas School District since 2007, most recently as a student and community engagement specialist. The district said he did not show up for work Wednesday.

In a statement sent to FOX 12 on Thursday, family members said they lost a mother, a sister and a nephew.

The family described Campbell as someone who helped hold the family together and who was loved as a mom and grandmother. They described Kinder as a loving aunt who brought joy and laughter to the family. They said Evan was young and had his whole life ahead of him.

“There are no words strong enough to describe the pain, grief, and devastation we are feeling,” the statement said in part.

The family asked for privacy as they grieve and thanked the community for support.

Villa’s ex-wife, Tiffany Villa, told FOX 12 Wednesday she and Villa share a son and her main concern is his well-being.

The investigation is ongoing.
