Man hit by two cars while walking across SE Vancouver street
VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) - A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by two cars while crossing a street in southeast Vancouver on Thursday evening, according to police.
At about 6 p.m., officers with the Vancouver Police Department were sent to the intersection of Southeast 164th Avenue and Southeast 29th Street after the report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Investigators say the man was in a crosswalk but crossing the road against the signal light. A car driving through the intersection on a green light crashed into the man and tossed him up and onto the front of the car. Then, he fell onto the road where he was hit by a second car.
According to police, the first involved driver stayed at the scene and called 911. The second car stopped briefly and then drove away. Police said they do not believe impairment was a factor for the first driver, and investigators are working to find information about the second car.
The man was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
No other information is being released by officials at this time.
