LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE/Gray News) - An arrest has been made in the murder of a mother and son in Texas.

Jeremiah McGee was arrested Friday and charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of Maria Davalos, 62, and her son, Ariel Arellano Jr., in their home.

“They determined Mr. McGee to be the main suspect and continued to work the information until they had enough to gain a warrant for his arrest and a second search warrant of his home,” Police Chief Travis Brazil said.

McGee, 47, was arrested at his home, and police said they found what they believed to be the weapon used in the murders.

Authorities said a homicide investigation was launched on Oct. 23 when officers responded to a 911 call and found Davalos and Arellano fatally wounded by gunfire.

The man who called 911 was the son and brother of the victims, police said.

Investigators noted that multiple people they interviewed, including McGee, told them that there had been disputes over Wi-Fi.

McGee and the victims lived side-by-side in a duplex on Third Street.
