71-year-old motorcycle rider killed in crash on Hwy 224 near Estacada

CLACKAMAS COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - A man died in a crash between a car and a motorcycle on Highway 224 near Estacada on Saturday afternoon in Clackamas County, according to the Oregon State Police.

Just after 12:30 p.m., police responded to the crash at milepost 25.

According to police, the crash happened when a 55-year-old Estacada man driving a red Ford Focus tried to turn left into a driveway. The motorcyclist, 71-year-old Richard Lee Detherage of Silverton was riding a black Harley Davidson in the opposite direction.

Police said the Focus smashed into the motorbike. Emergency responders tried to give Detherage life-saving care, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Traffic on Highway 224 was impacted for about three hours, police said.
