Portland-based uniform company shuts down, lays off over 100 workers
PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - A Portland-based company that calls itself the largest school uniform provider in the nation has shut its doors.
“Dennis Uniform” will be closing locations across the country that serve more than 2,000 schools. The closure took effect on Oct. 19.
The closure impacted 111 employees. The company says a number of the affected workers are represented by the United Food & Commercial Workers Union, local 555.

In a letter, the company’s interim CEO Lawrence Perkins says he’s making the decision to shut down the company because of “severe financial distress.”
The company says it will be supporting the employees impacted by the layoffs.
“We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition. We will be providing them with information regarding unemployment benefits, and job placement assistance. We welcome the involvement of the Rapid Response team to assist employees in finding new employment opportunities and accessing state services,” Perkins said in his letter.
