Washington Co. K-9 Radar retires after a decade of service
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - Washington County K-9 Radar is now off duty and embarking on a new chapter.
K-9 Radar spent more than 10 years with his handler Sgt. Eamon O’Reilly with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The Belgian Malinois made 119 career captures as part of the Tactical Negotiations Team, but he wasn’t all business.
Radar also stole the hearts of more than 410,000 people worldwide with his hilarious snack videos online.
Now, 11 and half years old, Radar is hanging up the badge and heading into retirement.
“He’s been much more of a mascot as he has been a patrol dog. So he just became the perfect dog to take to community events,” said Sgt. O’Reilly. “Because he’s a sweet dog he worked his way into the hearts of the community.”
Sgt. O’Reilly isn’t retiring but says he will not partner with another dog. He also promised to still post more videos of he and his family sharing snacks with Radar.
