Cat rescued from house fire in SW Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Firefighters rescued a cat during a fire in southwest Portland early Friday morning.

Just before 5:30 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a reported house fire along Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. People who called 911 reported seeing flames shooting from the roof.

Crews arrived to the scene and found heavy fire in the front of a home surrounded by dense brush. Shrubs in the front of the home also caught fire.

PF&R says the fire extended into the home a little bit.

One person, who was found in the basement, was helped out of the home by firefighters and a small cat was also rescued. No injuries were reported.

The owner reportedly told crews another cat is missing and may have gotten scared and run off.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
