Family displaced on Christmas Eve after house fire in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - Firefighters battled a large house fire Christmas Eve in unincorporated Washington County, closing a stretch of SW Roy Rogers Road and displacing a family.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews were called at 6:22 p.m. to a home in the 17900 block of SW Roy Rogers Road after 911 callers reported flames. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the two-story, more than 4,000-square-foot home, with fire beginning to break through the roof. The incident commander called in additional crews and equipment.

Firefighters searched the home and made sure everyone had gotten out safely. Then crews worked to knock down the fire. It was eventually extinguished.

A fire investigator was called to the scene and the cause remains under investigation. The Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
