City of Hillsboro opens new fire station
HILLSBORO, Ore. (KPTV) — The city of Hillsboro officially opened its newest fire station Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in South Hillsboro.
Station 9, located on Southeast Butternut Creek Parkway, will provide fire, rescue and advanced medical services to Hillsboro’s newest communities.
The city describes the building as a disaster-resilient facility featuring administrative spaces and a building department operations center, reflecting what officials call a long-term investment in public safety.
“It’s here to better serve the community, increase our response times, better protection to people on the south side of Hillsboro and we are very excited and happy that we get to provide a better service to the community through this station,” said Hillsboro Fire Captain Dan King.
The city plans to hold an open house at the station Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The city also said there are future plans for the building to serve as a self-service mini branch of the Hillsboro library.
