Beaverton man sentenced to prison for shooting his teen girlfriend
BEAVERTON Ore. (KPTV) - A Washington County Circuit Court judge has sentenced a 20-year-old man to 70 months in prison for shooting his teenage girlfriend in 2024, authorities said.
Sky Alexander Korbut was sentenced last week to nearly six years in the Oregon Department of Corrections. A jury found him guilty in April of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm following a week-long trial.

The charges stem from a Nov. 21, 2024 incident. Beaverton Police officers responded to a home on Southwest Prairie Terrace around 4:55 a.m. after Korbut, then 18, called 911 to report he had accidentally shot his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Responding officers found the girl with a gunshot wound to her stomach. She was hospitalized with critical injuries.
While Korbut was initially arrested on lesser charges, detectives later uncovered contradicting evidence, including statements from the victim. A grand jury subsequently indicted Korbut on the upgraded second-degree assault charge, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence under Oregon’s Measure 11, along with the firearms charge.
