Beaverton restaurant offers $2K reward after trailer full of furniture was stolen

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KPTV) - A family-owned Beaverton restaurant may have to postpone its grand opening after their trailer loaded with custom furniture was stolen.

The theft happened Sunday morning in the parking lot of Tandoori Nights, a new modern Indian restaurant on Southwest Walker Road.

Co-owners and cousins Ishaan and Ninder Johal were inside the restaurant working on renovations when they realized their white utility trailer was missing from the parking lot.

Surveillance video shows that around 8 a.m., a man wearing a cap and dark flannel backed a white pickup truck up to the trailer, hitched it and drove away.

“We’ve been working really hard remodeling the space and creating a place where people feel welcome,” Ishaan Johal said. “To have someone come and steal our work is just unfortunate.”

Inside the trailer was custom blue leather seating, intended for the restaurant’s grand opening. The stolen furniture includes four single booths, five double booths and a swing.

Tandoori Nights is currently open for to-go orders with a preview menu, but the owners had hoped to unveil their dining room and bar within the next two weeks. Now, they say the theft could push their grand opening back until September.

“We’re more than willing to forgive and forget,” Johal said. “We just need our furniture back.”

The owners are offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of the trailer and the stolen furniture.

The license plate on the trailer is U554528.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 and reference case No. 50-26-10937.
