Pres. Trump travels to Gastonia, NC
He’ll stump for GOP Senate candidate Michael Whatley
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump set to hit the road Wednesday to help out a Republican Senate candidate in North Carolina.
With a closely divided Senate and the midterm election less than 50 days away, President Trump is heading down to Gastonia, North Carolina to help out a Republican Senate candidate.
President Trump on Wednesday will campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michael Whatley.
Democrats in North Carolina are trying to flip the Senate seat now held by Republican Thom Tills who is not running for re-election.
Whatley is a former Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Polls show hehas been consistently trailing behind his opponent, former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
Earlier in September, Whatley reinforced his support for the president in a post on X-Twitter, “President Trump needs an ally in the Senate and North Carolina needs a fighter.”
President Trump’s approval rating has declined in North Carolina. But with this visit to the Tarheel State the President is hoping to energize Republican voter. North Carolina has already started mailing some ballots.
