A proud Maui native, ʻAʻaliʻi has always valued being a part of a diverse, tight-knit community, a sentiment shared among many across our beautiful islands.

After graduating from Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Maui, the Valley Isle's Hawaiian language immersion program, he attended the University of Southern California and earned his bachelor's degree in journalism in 2019.

That summer, ʻAʻaliʻi interned at Hawaii News Now and went on to work as a journalist on Oahu and Maui, covering breaking news, controversial issues impacting the community, as well as the devastating 2023 wildfires.

In June 2025, ʻAʻaliʻi came full circle rejoining the HNN team as a reporter.

"Returning to HNN truly feels like a homecoming. I'm very grateful to be working with so many of the best in the business," he shared.

When he's not working, ʻAʻaliʻi enjoys spending time with family and friends, and appreciating the remarkable islands that we call home.
