Ashley Weil

Weekend Anchor & Reporter
Ashley Weil

Ashley is passionate about telling important and impactful stories and loves to do that here in Madison. She is an MMJ Reporter during the week and anchors WMTV’s Saturday evening newscasts.

Ashley grew up in Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2024 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and minors in Political Science and Theatre Arts. At the UI, she worked with the Daily Iowan in the broadcast department, DITV. There, she got experience in multiple roles as a reporter, producer, and anchor, and was a part of the leadership in the student-led organization as the DITV News Director for her final two years. Ashley also won state and regional student journalism awards for her work and leadership in the program. She also had an on-air reporting internship at the CBS-affiliate in Des Moines.

She started at WMTV 15 News in July 2024 as an MMJ/Producer and transitioned into a weekend anchor role in July 2026.

Outside of news, Ashley loves all things art-related- from watching live theatre to learning how to crochet. She also loves to explore all that Madison has to offer, including its great food, nature, and entertainment!
