16-year-old arrested for deadly July stabbing in Salem

SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - A 16-year-old Salem boy was arrested Tuesday in connection with a deadly stabbing attack in July, according to the Salem Police Department.

The attack took place in the early morning hours of July 27 at Wallace Marine Park in Salem. Police say it was the result of a “spontaneous dispute” among a group of youths gathered at the boat ramp of the park.

19-year-old Riley John Adams was critically injured in the attack, and died from his injuries Aug. 19, causing police to investigate the incident as a homicide.

Police served a search warrant at the 16-year-old boy’s home Tuesday, were he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He was booked into the Yamhill County Juvenile Detention Center.

According to the Salem Police Department, the 16-year-old was the only suspect in the case.
