CORVALLIS, Ore. (KPTV) - A barn owl is being cared for at an Oregon wildlife center after it was found trapped by a barbed wire fence last week.

In a now viral TikTok video, the fledgling barn owl was stuck in the barbed wire fence in Brownsville. The rescuers were able to safely free the bird and took it to the Chintimini Wildlife Center on May 27.

The wildlife center says the owl’s injuries were severe, with injuries to the left wing, front and back, and left foot. A veterinarian at the wildlife center cleaned and stitched the owl’s wounds.

The owl was also critically emaciated when it was brought to the wildlife center.

Staff placed the owl under an extensive treatment plan to fight infection, heal its injuries, and recover body condition.

The wildlife center has been providing updates on the owl through social media. On Tuesday, staff said the owl was handling solid food well and gaining weight.
