Two dogs die after apartment fire in Vancouver

A late-night apartment fire displaced one person and killed two dogs in Vancouver on Sunday.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) - A late-night apartment fire displaced one person and killed two dogs in Vancouver on Sunday.

The fire happened just after 11 p.m. at the Alder Creek Apartments on Northeast 49th Street. When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from windows on the second floor.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before it spread to other units.

Officials said firefighters removed two dogs from the apartment and attempted lifesaving measures. Sadly, both dogs did not survive.

No people were hurt in the fire. One person was displaced and is being helped by the Red Cross and the Trauma Intervention Team.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
