Wildlife officials seek help identifying person who killed elk in Cannon Beach

The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for help identifying a person who killed an elk in Cannon Beach on Monday.

CANNON BEACH, Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for help identifying a person who killed an elk in Cannon Beach on Monday.

The dead cow elk was found on the edge of the roadway near the intersection of South Spruce Street and East Adams in the early morning hours of April 20. OSP said a witness reported seeing a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed before the elk was found.

Investigators are asking people in the area to review any security video or doorbell camera footage for suspicious activity between the hours of 4 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
