Sinkhole opens in Alder Street in SW Portland

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A sinkhole has opened in the middle of a southwest Portland street on Friday, according to the Bureau of Transportation.

Just before 5 p.m., a city spokesperson said crews were at the scene of a hole in the center lane of Southwest Alder Street at Southwest 2nd Avenue.

The hole is estimated to be about 6 feet across and 4 feet deep.

PBOT says SW Alder will be closed overnight between SW 2nd and 3rd for emergency repairs. The road is expected to reopen by early Saturday morning.
