Semi-truck knocks down 7 power poles in Beaverton; 100+ lose electricity
The area is closed to traffic while crews work to repair the damage
BEAVERTON Ore. (KPTV) - Businesses in downtown Beaverton were told to shelter in place on Friday afternoon after firefighters say a semi-truck knocked down seven power poles.
At about 4:30 p.m., Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said area impacted is around Southwest Watson Avenue to Southwest Main Avenue and Farmington Road to Southwest Third Street.
According to Beaverton Police, a powerline became snagged on the top of a semi-truck driving through the area, and before the driver noticed what had happened, the truck pulled down multiple power poles.





Officials say no one was hurt, and utility crews have turned off the power and are working to clear the area.
Meanwhile, Southwest Second Street and Southwest Third Street are closed between Southwest Washington Avenue and Southwest Stott Avenue.
According to the outage map on Portland General Electric’s website, about 100 customers lost power in that area, and PGE estimates the power will be out until around 7 p.m.
