PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - On Thursday morning, travelers celebrated the one year anniversary of the newly-renovated main terminal at the Portland International Airport.

Everyone has their own favorite part of the upgrade, from the roof to the stadium seating or the video wall. But everyone agrees it was a much needed and much welcome change.

The goal of the design was to give people a concentrated glimpse of the region while making it feel like a stroll through a local park. All of the trees used for the roof project were locally grown, all from within a day’s ride or 300-mile radius.

In the first year, the terminal has become home to 23 new local shops and restaurants, with 14 more coming soon.

Also, for any businesses out there, PDX is currently accepting applications for two new pop-up retail spots.

PDX isn’t done yet. In 2026, a 30% terminal expansion will make it even easier to get to your gate. Plus, new airline lounges, more all-user restrooms, and 14 new shops and restaurants.
