Couple welcomes quadruplets after mom spent nearly 70 days in the hospital
CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) — A Northern Kentucky couple went from a family of three to a family of seven overnight after welcoming quadruplets last month.
Megan and Erich Black were planning to expand their family with a second child. After learning Megan Black was pregnant, the couple said they went in for a routine ultrasound.
“And when we went to our ultrasound, it was a different story, but a great story,” Megan Black said.
Four babies appeared on the monitor during that visit.

After what the couple described as another routine ultrasound in early December, Megan Black was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.
“Things escalated,” Megan Black said. “I felt like every 45 minutes with, now this is happening, now this is happening ... and by the end of that day, I was admitted and never left ... until we had them.”
Though the couple did not detail exactly what was wrong, Megan Black remained in the hospital for nearly 70 days before the quadruplets were born.
They welcomed Ellie, Edyn, Dani and Lucy on Feb. 6.
Erich Black said the couple had trouble having children in the past.
“Knowing that we did have some difficulty in the past with trying to have kids, the last thing I was ever expecting were twins, let alone triplets, let alone quadruplets,” he said.
Megan Black said the family is grateful for the care the girls have received and said all four babies are healthy.
“Helping them accomplish those milestones, watching them grow in their each individual ways, but they’re all really healthy, especially for quads, so we’re really thankful for the team here also for taking care of the girls and doing such a great job,” she said.
