It's a rare thing in life when you can say 'I know what I wanted my career to be when I was in third grade,' but that is the case for me.
As a kid growing up in West Virginia, WSAZ was a household name and a staple to start the morning and end the day--who else was going to tell us if we didn't have school when it snowed? In third grade, I remember my teacher at Winfield Elementary School giving our class an assignment to write a paper about what we wanted to be when we grew up. For mine, I made up an entire interview where I was a reporter asking questions and even came up with a station name.
Who knew that little girl with dreams of being on television would end up where she is today.
Throughout my entire public school years at Winfield, I was part of the morning announcements team, tasked with keeping my classmates informed. After high school, I went onto West Virginia University where I studied Broadcast Journalism and was part of the award-winning WVU News team--Go Mountaineers! After graduating in 2014, I returned home to begin my news career with WSAZ.
I currently anchor WSAZ's 5, 5:30, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts. I have been honored to receive many awards for my work including being named Best Anchor by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association and Kentucky Broadcasters Association. I have also received a regional Emmy and have been recognized by the Associated Press.
I am incredibly passionate about overall health, fitness, and the work of organizations like the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, Dress for Success and animal rescue groups.
When I'm not at work, I love to fish, travel the world, go to West Virginia University sporting events, spend time with my precious pup Willow and be with my family and friends.
I consider it one of the greatest privileges to anchor at the station I grew up watching and that you all invite me into your homes every single day! Feel free to always say 'hi' if you see me out and about!
